The Washington Post reports today that “Spy Law Lapse Blamed for Lost Information; Some Telecom Firms Not Cooperating for Fear of Liability, U.S. Says.”

And The Los Angeles Times reports that “White House intensifies spying standoff; Bush administration officials tell congressional Democrats their failure to act has made the U.S. ‘more vulnerable to terrorist attack.’” The newspaper also contains an editorial entitled “Focus on FISA: The debate over immunity for telecoms is distracting attention from more urgent work.”

“Mr. Cheney’s Government: The vice president once again pursues his own agenda.” Today’s edition of The Washington Post contains an editorial noting that “This month Mr. Cheney joined a brief filed by 305 lawmakers in the Supreme Court case over the constitutionality of the District’s gun control laws.”

“Iowa’s high court rules on medical lawsuits”: The Des Moines Register today contains an article that begins, “A Des Moines woman who claims her doctor failed to spot the early signs of breast cancer scored a legal victory Friday that will allow wrongly diagnosed medical patients to sue up to two years after they discover what caused their injury.”

On Friday, the Supreme Court of Iowa issued two rulings addressing when a cause of action for medical malpractice accrues, and you can access those two rulings here and here.

And The Macomb Daily reports today that “Roseville artist wins appeal; City may take case to state Supreme Court.”

Yesterday’s ruling of the Michigan Court of Appeals consists of a majority opinion and a dissenting opinion.
