“Into battle over Kagan; Democrats hail pick; GOP hits her experience”: This article appears today in The Boston Globe, along with articles headlined “For the court, a broker’s skills“; “At Harvard, dean eased faculty strife“; and “If she’s confirmed, court would have no Protestants.” The newspaper also contains an editorial entitled “Impressive legal credentials, but an anticlimactic pick.”

Today’s edition of The Boston Herald, meanwhile, contains articles headlined “Democrats and Republicans wary of court pick” and “Cornell prof: She leans right on key issues.” And columnist Margery Eagan has an essay entitled “Justices, nominee out of touch with reality.”

“NJ court: Accurate lawsuit reporting not libelous.” The AP has a report that begins, “New Jersey’s highest court has ruled that a newspaper cannot be held liable for accurate reporting of allegations made in a lawsuit.”

“Kagan Nomination Leaves Some Longing on the Left”: Today’s edition of The New York Times contains a news analysis that begins, “The selection of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to be the nation’s 112th justice extends a quarter-century pattern in which Republican presidents generally install strong conservatives on the Supreme Court while Democratic presidents pick candidates who often disappoint their liberal base.”

The newspaper also contains articles headlined “Democrats Express Praise for Kagan; G.O.P. Is Cautious“; “Reshaping Court’s Culture, a Woman at a Time“; and “Court Pick Can Still Rise on Her High School’s Alumni List.”
