“Judge Thomas Porteous’ attorneys want one last argument before Senate impeachment vote”: Bruce Alpert of The Times-Picayune of New Orleans has a news update that begins, “Attorneys for New Orleans federal Judge Thomas Porteous are asking the Senate to give them sufficient time before a decisive vote in the next few weeks to present arguments on why the judge’s removal from office ‘could substantially alter’ more than two centuries of legal precedent.”

Law professor Jonathan Turley, via a post at his blog, has placed the Porteous Post-Trial Brief online at this link.

“Cheerleader’s silence not ‘disruptive'”: Online at the First Amendment Center, David L. Hudson Jr. has an essay that begins, “Can a silent cheerleader disrupt school activities? Is there a legitimate educational reason to punish a student for refusing to cheer for her alleged attacker? These questions form the basis for an appeal to the full 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals filed on behalf of a former Texas cheerleader (known as H.S. in court papers), who was kicked off the Silsbee High School squad after she didn’t cheer for a basketball player who allegedly sexually assaulted her after a football game.”

“Alito to lecture at Duq. Rome campus”: Today’s edition of The Duquesne Duke contains an article that begins, “Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is expected to lecture at Duquesne law school’s Rome summer study program this July.”
