Peter Blumberg of The Daily Journal is reporting: On Friday, he had two articles of note. The first, headlined “Litigator’s Banishment Was Going Too Far, Circuit Rules,” reports on this ruling that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued on Thursday. Blumberg’s article begins, “A federal appeals panel Thursday saved a nationally prominent civil defense specialist from becoming the first lawyer permanently barred from making pro hac vice appearances in a federal district court.” It’s far from clear to me that the lawyer for Ford Motor Company should have been subject to sanctions for the conduct described in the opinion.

Blumberg’s second article, headlined “Couple Who Fear Daughter’s Mutilation Will Get Rehearing,” reports on the Ninth Circuit’s grant of rehearing en banc Thursday in a case that produced this divided three-judge panel opinion. In other coverage, The Metropolitan News-Enterprise reported yesterday that “Couple Claiming Fear of Daughter’s Mutilation Gain En Banc Review of Ruling Denying Asylum Claim.”
