“Illegal immigrants allowed to practice law in California”: Reuters has a report that begins, “Illegal immigrants can be licensed to practice law in California under one of eight bills expanding immigrant rights that were signed by Governor Jerry Brown on Saturday.”

A few weeks ago, Bob Egelko of The San Francisco Chronicle examined the background of the legislation in an article headlined “Bill would let undocumented immigrants be lawyers.”

And today at the “At the Lectern” blog, David Ettinger has a post titled “Governor signs ‘Garcia’ bill.”

“Affirmative action intact at UNC”: This article appeared in Friday’s edition of The Daily Tar Heel, the student newspaper of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

And at The Huffington Post, Molly Nestor has a blog entry titled “Why This New Teacher is Going to the Supreme Court” that begins, “When Proposal 2 passed in 2006, it banned race-conscious college admissions policies in Michigan.”
