“Appeal sought for family of man killed after Denver dispatcher sent him into harm’s way; Reat, 25, was driving to Wheat Ridge with two brothers when they were threatened by a group of men”: In June 2016, Kirk Mitchell of The Denver Post had an article that begins, “Attorneys for Jimma Pal Reat’s estate are seeking a review by the full 10th Circuit Court of Appeals after a panel of three appeals judges dismissed his wrongful death lawsuit against a Denver dispatcher who told him and his companions to return to the scene of a violent crime.”

Yesterday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit issued an order denying rehearing en banc over the dissenting votes of four judges. Also yesterday, the original three-judge panel issued an amended opinion.

The three-judge panel issued its original opinion in the case on May 31, 2016, which Kirk Mitchell of The Denver Post covered in an article headlined “Case dismissed in which Denver dispatcher put man in harm’s way; Sudanese immigrant Jimma Pal Reat was shot to death in 2012.”
