J. David Goodman of The New York Times reports that “Top Texas Court Allows Abuse Inquiries of Parents of Transgender Children; But the court said Gov. Greg Abbott did not have the authority to order such investigations, acknowledging they could cause ‘irreparable harm.’

And Eleanor Klibanoff of The Texas Tribune reports that “Texas Supreme Court allows child abuse investigations into families of transgender teens to continue; The high court also raised questions about why the state opened these investigations in the first place, noting that the child welfare agency is not bound by directives from the governor.”

Today’s ruling of the Supreme Court of Texas consists of a majority opinion written in part by two different Justices, a concurring opinion, and an opinion concurring in part and dissenting in part.
